Japan-based Kawakin Core-Tech Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the first delivery of its innovative earthquake safety product, the KAWAKIN-BRB (Buckling Restrained Brace), in Türkiye.
The product was implemented at a chemical plant located in Dilovası, marking the company’s first project in the Turkish market.

Strengthening Earthquake Resilience in Türkiye

In recent years, increasing seismic activity in Türkiye and the Mediterranean region has highlighted the urgent need to enhance the earthquake resilience of existing structures.
As one of the leading companies in this field, Kawakin Core-Tech established its Istanbul branch in 2023 to expand operations and contribute its advanced Japanese seismic technology to the region.

Verified Performance and Patent Acquisition

To ensure the reliability of the KAWAKIN-BRB, comprehensive near full-scale performance tests were carried out at the Structural and Earthquake Engineering Laboratory (STEEL) of Istanbul Technical University (ITU), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Oğuz Cem Çelik.
On May 22, 2025, the product received official performance approval for its superior hysteretic behavior.

In addition, on June 18, 2024, the KAWAKIN-BRB was granted a patent by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office under the title “Buckling Restrained Brace Structure” (Patent No: TR 2022 28218 B).
This achievement confirms that Kawakin’s unique design and high performance are legally recognized and protected in Türkiye.

Local Operations and Collaboration

Kawakin Core-Tech entered the Turkish construction market with the establishment of its Istanbul Office in 2023.
The Türkiye office manages local projects, fosters collaboration with regional stakeholders, and provides technical support, project management, and customer service in close coordination with the Japan headquarters.
Through this structure, Kawakin delivers fast, efficient, and on-the-ground services for projects in Türkiye and other seismically active regions.

About KAWAKIN-BRB

The KAWAKIN-BRB consists of a core element that carries axial force and an outer casing that prevents buckling.
This configuration ensures stable hysteretic performance under both tension and compression forces.
The clearance between the core and the casing is precisely controlled, with strict quality management throughout the manufacturing process.
The product is also certified by the Building Center of Japan (BCJ), further reinforcing its high reliability and performance standards.
